The Development Project aims to obtain sufficient grant funding to allow the building of an extension along the eastern side of the main Hall. It is proposed that this extension will house a new kitchen, fitted out to modern day standards with, where possible, energy-saving appliances. Also housed in the extension will be storage lockers for our user groups and an additional room with various uses, including storage of stage, tables and chairs when not required in the Hall.
The area of the existing kitchen will be incorporated into the main Hall by removing the dividing wall. Large windows will be installed to give more natural light into the Hall during daytime and to take advantage of the panoramic view.
(Please see the copy of approved plans above.)
The Project sub-committee are looking into the options for providing energy-saving, eco-friendly heating and lighting and it is intended to insulate the roof and walls of the building to conserve heat and energy.
Of course, this Project depends on obtaining the necessary funding. To date, Trimpley Village Hall has been offered grant funding to cover approximately 50% of the expected cost involved. Further grant applications are being submitted and, if successful, the work will begin in March/April 2011.
It is hoped that there will be little disruption to the use of the Hall during the building of the extension, as the majority of the work can be done without affecting the main Hall. Only when installing the doors between the Hall and the new extension will there be work involving the Hall itself. This will be planned carefully to create the least disturbance to the regular use of the Hall.
